Two Men / Two Bikes- and an Adventurous Cross-Country Road Trip - Pedaling 3,110 miles "unsupported"

Jake Scully, owner of PC Bike in Palm Coast is preparing for an adventure of a lifetime: Riding his bike with pal Marty Dunstan cross-country from San Diego to St. Augustine "unsupported," which means pedaling their non-motorized bikes 3,110 miles alone. They will be taking what is referred to as the Southern Tier bicycle route. Their trip is scheduled to begin in San Diego on February 26th, 2009 and expected to be finish by April 2009. To follow their progress visit www.wherearethoseguys.blogspot.com, where a journal will be posted. For more information about their trip visit www.adventurecycling.org. They expect it will be entertaining to say the least!

Jake is tying in his adventure with his gratitude to the teachers of Flagler County Public Schools by partnering with the Flagler County Education Foundation to raise money. Jake and Kelli's children, Caitlin and John, attended Flagler Palm Coast High School. They are now in college and both had many wonderful teachers from kindergarten to high school in Flagler County. Their teachers gave more than the bare essentials. "My kids benefited from all the 'extras' of music, sports, extra-curricular academic programs, arts and more. These were not 'extras' when we were in school, teachers are simply not thanked enough. Many have said that our trip could be a life-changing event, but there is no doubt that a child's education is in fact, life changing, it humbles me what our teachers do each day," he said.

The Flagler County Education Foundation will assure funds raised are given to our teachers through teacher mini-grants, Future Problem Solver programs, backpacks that teachers give to students in need and other items "We are asking you to support our bike ride and in turn support teachers of Flagler County Public Schools, by making a donation which will go directly to support the teachers," said Jake Scully.
